Teen Airlifted To Hospital In Maryland After Shooting: Sheriff

A teenager in Maryland had to be airlifted to an area hospital after being shot during an incident in St. Mary’s County, the sheriff’s office announced.

Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff's Office responded to the 24400 block of Marvell Dean Road in Hollywood shortly after 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, where there was a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, officials said that they found an 18-year-old victim - whose name has not been released - who suffered a gunshot wound to his leg.

The teen was airlifted by helicopter to an area trauma center for treatment, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said, while detectives and crime lab personnel from the agency responded to the scene to investigate.

No suspect has been identified by investigators. The condition of the victim was not immediately available on Monday, June 27.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
